Ranking
7 models, best first. Each bar compares a model with the rest of this list: the best on every point would score 100.
Scores reward a low price per square foot, high snow and wind ratings and long warranties, all as the makers state them. They don't measure build quality, finish or how easy assembly is, so use them to shortlist, then read the model pages.

How the score works
Weights: snow load 50, price per sq ft 30, wind rating 20
Weights
- 50
Snow load, higher is better.
- 30
Price per sq ft, lower is better.
- 20
Wind rating, higher is better.
Steps
- 1
Each criterion is scaled from 0, the worst of these 7 models, to 1, the best. For price per sq ft, lower is better, so the lowest value scores 1.
- 2
Each scaled value is multiplied by its weight, and the results are added up to a score out of 100. Models with the same score share a rank.
- 3
A model is ranked only if it has its own page here and a value for every criterion (type Hardtop gazebo).
Who is ranked
Seven hardtop gazebos state a snow load in pounds per square foot: one from Mirador, four from Domi and two from Paragon. Snow load carries 50% of the score, price per square foot (price divided by covered area) carries 30%, and wind rating carries 20%.
Sunjoy, Kozyard and Purple Leaf state either a total load for the whole roof, in pounds, or no snow figure for their gazebos. We don't convert a total into a per square foot figure, so those models are not in this list.
What stands out
The Mirador 111A Offset 10' x 16' is first at 72 of 100. Its 41 lb per sq ft is almost twice the next model, and it states 90.2 mph wind. At $2,799 for 166 sq ft it is also one of the dearest per square foot, at $16.86.
The two Domi wall-mounted gazebos share second place at 59. Both state 22 lb per sq ft and 60 mph. The 12' x 16' costs $1,029.99, or $5.36 per sq ft, and the 10' x 12' costs $649.99, or $5.42. They attach to a house wall, so they suit a patio next to the house, not the middle of a yard.
The freestanding Domi aluminum gazebos, 10' x 12' at $999.99 and 12' x 16' at $1,699.99, state the same 22 lb per sq ft but only 40 mph wind. Paragon's Cambridge 11' x 11' states 10 lb and the Santa Monica 10' x 12' 8 lb, so they rank last here.
How to use this list
These are the makers' own ratings. Local building codes set the snow load a structure must carry, and it varies a lot by region, so check yours before you buy. For pergolas, see the best pergolas for snow.
